4-Down Territory: Friday is the New Thursday, USC Lives, Power 5 Primer, UVA's Game of The Centu

1st Down: Friday Is The New Thursday: When the NFL abandoned Thursday night games for several years, college football filled that void with big games from major conferences. With the NFL back on Thursday nights those games have shifted to Friday.Tonight three different power five conferences have conference games. #12 Penn State at Maryland: Two weeks ago this would've been a Top 25 match-up--then #21 Maryland lost to Temple. How does Maryland rout Syracuse one week and lose to Temple the next? Turnovers, missed field goals and sloppy line play. The Terps have skill position speed but their OTs versus the PSU pass rush could be a major problem if PSU d-line gets back on track…..Duke at Virgi

4-Down Territory: Pac (12) is Back?, SEC West Battle, Michigan Identity Crisis, Irish Invade Athens,

1st Down: The PAC is Back?: Friday Night #10 Utah at USC: The PAC 12 has 6 teams in the Top 25 (the same as the SEC). Utah leads the Pac-12 playoff contenders and has a chance to get people's attention as the only Power-5 team playing Friday night. USC begins a 3-game run against ranked teams with trips to #22 Washington and #7 Notre Dame up next. While a lot has been made about former USC RB Reggie Bush returning to the LA Coliseum as part of the Fox Sports Crew, it will be interesting to see how USC fans react to having Fox Sports' Urban Meyer on location as well…..#22 Washington at BYU: The Cougars are 2-1 with wins over Tennessee and USC and this is their 3rd Pac 12 game. Can the Pac 12

This week there are four games versus Power-5 Teams…. #19 Iowa at Iowa State: Iowa has handled their business the typical Iowa way; methodical efficient offense and stout defense. Iowa State needed extra time to defeat Northern Iowa in OT. ESPN’s College Gameday will be in Ames for the first time ever. It's sure to be the biggest show to hit Iowa between now and the Iowa Caucuses in 2020….TCU at Purdue: The Boilermakers are dange

4-Down Territory: Texas-Tiger 2-Step, Buckeye's 1st Test, Week 2 Must-Wins & Football 150 Re

Week one in college football is fool’s gold. Season-opening routs mean more fan bases believe their team is suddenly a playoff contender. Scientifically it is a ridiculously small sample size against inferior competition. Week two gets far more interesting. 1st Down: Hello Old Friend: Cincinnati at #5 Ohio State....This may be the best under the radar game of the weekend. Cincinnati Head Coach Luke Fickell played for Ohio State and coached 15 years at Ohio State (including serving as interim Head Coach in 2011). His Cincinnati team is coming off an 11-2 season and a win over UCLA to start this season. Cincinnati's veteran QB Desmond Ridder will try to test Ohio State’s defense. New Ohio Stat
